I used to work as a call-center rep. It was for a loyalty travel program, so I was dealing with points, not money. I am a big believer in the tenets of Dale Carnegie and was constantly amazed at how many people opted to lose control when they didn't get the answer they wanted. When this occurred, I did everything possible to ensure that no rules were bent to help them. Conversely, someone who was patient and remained calm, generally got what they called for.
FYI, nothing happens in a vacuum, the call is logged, so if an agent sees that you have been rude before, they will be waiting for you to be rude again. Unless you intend to end the business relationship, yelling is counter-productive and short-sighted.

Men are respected more in general and there is just a certain way you need to talk to people, plain and simple. I had the opposite happen with me and my husband. He went and bitched out the spa people because its been a month and they haven't shipped it yet and he ended up wanting to take them to court. I called the spa manufacturer and nicely got the answers.

In most case...they are doing there jobs. It just happens to be you are not satisfied with what their job entails. You want your little toushe to be kiss. This person can only do what within their realm. Grab yourself a tissue and blow. Because nobody cares about your problems. You may be the most important person in your circle, but that mean nothing to that person on the other side of the phone.

I understand you totally, I'm a middle aged woman and still get the run around or ignored! but my husband gets helped with a smile and ends up getting things for free! I and if woman are assertive then we get calle BITCHES I really dont think society will ever change so speak up and be a *****!

U sound angry you should have your husband give you a hug .grrr ! customer service people suck but at least thier not cooking your food. or are they ? stupid people seem to be breeding much faster than the smart ones.so all you smarties ( get ta phuquin )
