It shows the suffering Jesus went thru to save us from our sins and eternal damnation. Christianity is a relationship with Jesus, not a religion. Each person who is in a relationship with Jesus, looks to the suffering that Jesus went thru, in a different way. To me what Jesus did for me is indescribable, I know that each time He was whipped, that each stroke was because of someone commiting a sin and that the blood He shed coveres our sins and forgives us for our wrong doings. Jesus on the cross has humbled me so much and I thank Him each and every day for offering me the gift of salvation.

I suppose that since Jesus died for the Christians sins (not mine cuz I don't believe in that) then they too feel they should suffer. Sufferage somehow equates to heaven... ???????

To make you feel guilty that Jesus died on the cross "for your sins". Kinda like what some mothers do to guilt their kids into stuff. "I spent 50 days in labor for you!"

It's a constant reminder that you OWE. Jesus died for you, what are you going to do for him?
I find it incredibly morbid.

it shows what our creator went through just so we could be re-united with him. it shows how much he does love us. it shows how much we hate God because we killed him.
