My sincere condolences. If you came into my studio, I would likely spend some time with you to discover some of the things that remind you of happy times with her, what special things you shared, etc. Oftentimes, those can be included in the memorial.
We do a fair amount of Celtic crosses with the name and the person's birth flower or other flowers in their favorite color worked into the design.
Recently one of our artists did an exact copy of the client's departed sister's signature with an angel wing at the start of it. I really liked that.
I am not a big fan of dates of passing, but would rather embrace the fine points of the happiest times. You should give yourself some time to work on it. It will come to you.

Hey there, firstly I'm sorry to hear of your lose dude... This must be a very sad time for you. I think a tattoo is a great idea, my best friend died some time ago and I had a butterfly tattooed on my hip, I love it as much as I loved her....
Seeing that you are male, its quite hard, I'm sure you are not keen on anything too girly... There are some great websites that you can go through, I've included some...
Good luck with your quest, I hope you find the perfect one for both you and your sister!
ps: what about an armband???

Personally, the thing that comes to mind is a heart with a ribbon that has her name, or maybe a rose with her name and the date.
Other than that, one thing my friends and I did was to get the same tattoo another friend, who died unexpectedly, had and included his name or initials into it.
Don't listen to "Ol' Whiny Pants" complaining about his skin problems and tattoos being a waste of money. He probably doesn't have an condition, but is either too scared of pain, or too much of a momma's boy to get one! It's not his skin, and if he's not giving an answer to the actual question he should shut his pie hole.
Get anything that reminds you of her. Maybe the other person's suggestion is best who said go and talk to a tattoo artist and get some ideas going.

My brother is a tattoo artist and he tattoo'd himself as follows for the same reason you stated: He gave himself one across the whole smaller under part of his arm that says "FAITH" because his best friend's mom died last year of cancer. He was close to their family as well as his own, and the mother's name was Faith. Now this is just an idea but I just want you to know that I think you're doing everything for the right reasons! That's wonderful of you to honor your sister in such a way that everybody will know♥! Good luck☺.
P.S. A Chinese symbol sounds beautiful. Go for it!

i would suggest not getting a chinese symbol because it will have less meaning than if you got something that directly reminds you of her. i would wait a while and make sure you think out the tattoo properly. i think memorial tattoos are beautiful but sometimes people jump into getting them without thinking them out and making sure it is the perfect one to remember their loved one and then they end up not having the best tattoo they could have. memorial tattoos are different for everybody but i think unique ones are the most special. get something that reminds you of her.

Sorry to hear about your sis.. I really think a detailed feather (symbolises an angel) would look really cool with her name or initials spelt out with the wispy section of the feather at the edges and maybe to incorporate the chinese symbols to look like they are embossed or ingraved in the stem of the feather saying something like "Love you forever" Never to be forgotten" "Lives on in my heart" or something of that effect but what you personally like.. hope this helps with ideas..

You should get a tattoo of something she liked or a heart with a Chinese symbol inside.

Maybe an angel, with a blank face. I recommend that you evaluate your relationship with her. You may think of a specific symbol that reminds you of her. I am sorry for your loss, but us strangers can't begin to tell you what such a special tat should be of. A tattoo artist can help you bring your idea to reality.

you could get an," above the influence," tattoo with her name, date of birth, and date of death on the flag. ya know, like on the commercials with the little dog holding the flag. and under the pic, you could put above the influence.
