I have never encountered a person from any other religion that thinks they need to talk to you about their beliefs, or look for any opportunity to bring it up...I think this is part of why christianity is such a failure as a religion - it allows no sycretism with other people's spiritual views, it's "my way or the highway" What do you think?

Even worse, you will find Christians from one church trying to convert Christians of another church. Its really funny when you think about it...

Its all advertising. Coke or Pepsi. And whoever gets the most converts gets the most money.

Kind of because Christianity's one of the few religions that actually has exhortations to spread the message. The image provided in the Bible is if you have a lamp, you don't put it under a bowl, you expose it so that it may spread its light to everyone. So I guess if you really are on to a good thing you want others to share in what it has to offer.

The obvious problem turns up with regards other religions. I don't think anyone's got a really decent solution to this, but I like C.S. Lewis's statement in "Mere Christianity" that while exhortation of the gospel to those without religion is appropriate, the Bible doesn't make any statement as to what happens to people of other religions. So I guess that suggests to spread the word but respect others. The Catholic Church has even accepted the premise that other religions are part of the way towards understanding truth.

Then there's a huge gulf between the "all religions point to God" and "no one gets it right anyway". I suppose the best anyone can do is admit that which we don't know, and focus on what we do know, and on what we believe. It may not be 100% accurate, but it is far better than the alternative.

Very well - you may commence the flaming :(

Because Jesus gave us this commission before He ascended into Heaven (Mark 16)

"He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."

That is why we talk about our beliefs. As for it being "such a failure as a religion" This is what Jesus said would happen when we do spread His Word.

"After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it."

Confirming His Word with signs following. People ask why we don't see the miracles we read about in the Bible, as I see it, we has Christians aren't holding up our end of the deal.

Leading souls to Christ is the Great Commision that is the Christian's duty to God. What you think about it is insignificant, and as far as your mistaken view that Christianity is a failed religion, I should enlighten you. Christianity has been around since the first century AD, and still thrives today. Click on school of christ international dot com, and you will see how Christianity is taking off in places like Russia where atheism has been the rule for over 75 years. Love in Christ and peace be with you.

The Word of God says that we are to go into the highways and byways and compel other men and women. That was the Great Commission that Jesus left us with. May God BLess U.

That is the message of Christianity. If you value the message, you will be grateful for it.

If someone offered you the cure for a fatal disease that you had contracted, you would accept it gladly. If you value the message of Christianity, you would also be grateful. If no, that is your decision.
