Yes the brake booster is bad. I'd recommend just replacing the whole thing, as I don't think anyone makes rebuild kits for them.

Hi, like your previous answer i am not very sure on the Grand cherokee but similar makes do have the vacumm assisted brake booster, in which very likley to have a small leak which would give you the hissing sound, if this is not the case it is possible you have air in your brakes but if it was air in the system you would feel it in the pedal while applying your brakes and your brakes would be effected by it. so most likely the vacuum leak as mentioned either on needs to be fixed soon , if is air in the brakes simply bleed the air off which any mechanic should be able to do, im not a mechanic and i can do it LOL . if its the vacuum should be a simple unexpensive repair. Good luck..

You have a vacuum assisted brake booster, and there is a vacuum leak that needs to be fixed.

Sounds like a leak. I would take it in to have it fixed ASAP, after all, it's not so important on how fast you can go from 0 to 60, but how fast you can go from 60 to 0

greater then probably its a small exhaust leak...initiate your automobile, bypass to the exhaust, carry your provide up the exhaust for some seconds...jointly as your doing that, loom under your automobile...if its a leak you will know...sturdy success !

It sounds like your brake fluid is low.I would check that first and fill to the max line.
