I have a constant (bearable - but noticeable) knee pain / soreness these past few months, and I'm not sure why.

I do not play any heavy sports or anything of that sort. I'm 19 years old, so it shouldn't be a problem due to age...

It's always a soreness in the front of my knees (maybe bottom half of the front around the knee caps?).

The only thing I can think of would be riding my bike - I don't do heavy cycling or anything along those lines - I simply ride my bike to campus and back once or twice a day - it's about a mile away.

I just started riding my bike to campus each day this past school year. The only thing is I believe the bike is a proper fit - it's comfortable and doesn't seem like the seat is too high/too low (maybe slightly too low but hardly at all). I also stay in a low gear, as only the first couple of gears on my bike actually work.

So my knees usually hurt in the front after I do anything that puts any kind of stress on them - ride my bike, sit cross-legged, etc

I would recommend seeing the doctor about it. But for now, ice your knee when it hurts until you find out what's wrong.

Sounds like you have tendonitis. I have it too, and it can easily be made less of a problem by laying on your back, pulling a knee up at 90 degrees, and circling your foot/ankle about 20 times in each direction. Do it every day! Also, go to a podiotrist, who may give you shoe inserts which will correct your arches (this may be playing into the pain), and he can also give you bands to place around your knees whenever you ride your bike or exercise.

i can't diagnose you but i can tell you why. you said you do riding a bike and your having a knee pain. simple it could be your Gluteus minimus is located to your lateral hip, thigh, and leg. also it could be your quadricep muscle are very tight need to losen up the toxin and also your harmstring is tight also that's why you feel sometimes the pain behind your knee. But this muscle Gluteus minimus is the main problem that's why you feel the pain around your patelar bone or behind your patelar bone. you need to go to massage therapist they can help you, just tell what's your pain and they will tell what's wrong and let me if they tell you the same thing. good luck

Do not goof around with this. See your Primary Physician immediately-IMMEDIATELY! They will get you an x-ray and put your mind at rest. Plus they will prescribe some pain meds. I'd like to hear from you afterwards. There is some cartilidge under your knee cap that may be giving you trouble. dtwladyhawk@yahoo.com

Stop bicycling and see a sports medicine doctor/specialist immediately. Knee damage tends to be permanent.

Hey there, I've suffered from that one myself, big time, I pity you. There's this great juice out though that people are using for that problem now, it's so effective it's even been in the news. You can check it out at these two places:

It sounds like arthritis, or with your age it could be Osgood-Schlatter disease. Just go 2 a doctor.
