Two very controversial boxers in terms of why they fought some fights the way they did and some of the decisions they made. Liston could have continued in both fights against Ali but he chose not to. Johnson stopped in the 26th round of his fight with Willard and I'm sure he did it in other fights. Why, I don't know. Head to head, Johnson would do to Liston what Ali did. Johnson was a better defensive fighter than his overall record shows. Great match up.

Johnson was great for his time, but I think Liston would have won. The sweet science was a little more technically developed by Liston's time and while Liston was not a master boxer, I think he was skilled enough to beat Johnson. The power was probably equal, but I see Liston getting to Johnson rather than vice-versa, probably by the 7th or 8th round.

This would have been one whale of a fight to witness. While Liston was a mauler, you would have to give the nod to the great Jack Johnson. This one probably wouldn't have gone the distance with Johnson winning by TKO in round 8

Both undisciplined fighters, not boxers! I'd say Johnson because from the film I've seen he had a lot more speed than Liston. Late from KO by Johnson. Maybe 11 round.

Liston whacks Johnson inside of 9 rounds. One of the biggest upsets ever.

I think liston. people forget, but he had one of the great jabs of all time, and actually was a decent defensive boxer and obviously a killer puncher
