Yes - entropian is very painful & will cause other damage to the eye. If you skip the surgery, you risk even bigger, more expensive problems down the road (including him possibly losing the eye) - please don't put your poor, suffering dog through any more pain!

The scar tissue shows your pugs eye is sustaining damage from this problem and is already causing discomfort and most likely pain. Not all animals show the pain. If you do not get the surgery his eyesight may be in danger!

Our Sharpei had this problem as a puppy, she had the surgery right away. We did not wait and could not believe the breeder had decided not to tac her eyes since she was the runt. I would do it again in a heartbeat. It really improved the quality of her life, I can't imagine not doing the surgery.

Think about it this way how uncomfortable are you when a stray eyelash gets in your eye? Now imagine that feeling with all the eyelashes your dog has scratching his eye. I would book the appointment as soon as the Vet can do it.

We have had quite a few dogs in the rescue with this problem. Most dumped because owner did not want to deal with. This is a fairly routine surgery that needs to be done. It is not a "cosmetic" surgery. Should not be let go, your vet is not trying to do it just for the money. Can mess that eye up permanently.

I am sure he will not want the dog in pain either. There are meds for that. Doesn't take long to heal up. It is a constant irritation to the eye and painful in itself. We get dogs that have had problem too long and really messed up the eye, surgery more complex and longer healing time. Please schedule the surgery. Your Pug will love you bunches. The way their eyes protrude make their eyes more at risk anyway.

All I have to say is that you should probably do what your Vet thinks is best, Take it from someone who wants to be a vet.... if I understand what you are saying about this, you should get surgery because I am sure this is causing him alot of irritation, and I am sure it will be worth it.... they would just cut away the excess skin (the part that is bothering the eye).. stitch/sew the other skin together so that it wouldnt be so....um....rollie? (got at a loss of words there, hehehe) and it would probably make the pug alot more comfortable once the surgery heals.

Yes I have heard of this, it's a condition that is very irritating. Imagine something rubbing against your eye every time you blinked. Your pug will feel better after the surgery.

Hi this is a very common problem with dogs with bulging or protruding eyes like your pug. Yes have the surgery and you and your dog will rest much easier.

I'm pretty sure he's already in pain with those eyelashes scratching his cornea. Don't be so selfish and listen to the professional.
