when you did a system restore you might have erased your sound drivers. to make sure right click on my computer icon which I am assuming is on your desktop the click on properties you will be at the system properties now click on the hardware tab then on device manager. it will show yo the components on your pc. look at sound, video and game controllers check if you see a circle(or triagle) can't remember. with an exclamation mark if so then your drivers are not installed correctly but if you see a question mark(yello) and the word other devices(I believe) then your drivers are not installed at all. they should be on your recovery cd or anther cd that came with your pc. if you don't have them go to the website of your pc and search for the drivers there. once you find them save them to your pc anywhere (my documents) then on your device manager double click on the item that has the error( yellow circle triangle or question mark) and update the drivers and include the folder where you saved the driver you just downloaded. the wizard should be able to find it there. now if the driver you downloaded is a self installed it will be easier. first check that by double clicking on the file you downloaded. if it opens and installs then you are set. if not then do it the other way I told you.

hope It helps and you are not confussed.

with your pc you should have got a drivers and utilities disc, insert this disc and install all the drivers on it and your sound will work, if you dont have the disc go to the manufacturers web site and look for downloads and support and look for the sound drivers here, download and install
