Three is normal, four is quite rare.

Don't take the test until you are sure that you can pass. You should just study the drivers' manual. Before you go to take the test, have a friend or family member quiz you by asking you questions from the manual. If you keep getting questions wrong, that means you are not ready yet. Also, ask the DMV about drivers' education classes that might be available. Don't just keep wasting your money if you're not ready. Make sure that you feel confident before you go in to take the actuall test.

I counted 6 on the first (and only) time. And my IQ test says I'm a 142, just over the line into genius country!
