We have four male cats.....when they were small we thought they were female.....
Look at the cat's Heiny-hole, then look below that....is there a Poofy Cotton Ball below the Heiny-hole? If so....then its a Male....
Female don't have the cotton ball....and no, it is NOT the size of a cotton ball....it LOOKS like a cotton ball, ok?
NOW....it doesn't really matter what sex they are....OUR male cat "Sport" started humping "Wedgie" when he became 6 months old, 1 week before neutering!!
At 7 years of age, he still does it Once In a While....but he does it to show who is Boss...Not for sex.
So....show Him who is boss....(laughs)

I agree with the person above me. Also male cats spray i think even when they r neutered so if one of them doesn't spray then its a female. or u can just bring them to a vet and hav them check. And the part about climbing ontop of each other is one of the cats is trying to show its dominance to the other. Or its jsut playing. Plus since u know fo rsure that smokey is a boy, if he showed liek certain characteristics or there was something that stood out that made u say "ok hes a male" then use those same "guidlines" for pepper.
Any ?? u can contact me at

look in the area just underneath their anus. If you're sure Smokey is a boy then compare his area to Pepper's. If they are the same then you can assume their both boys, if Pepper's is different she might be a girl! Mounting behavior in animals is often used as a dominance behavior not neccasarily a mating behavior. If you're not sure find a veterinary office to help you.

If Pepper plays with things that are pink or purple he's a girl. If he plays with balls or old slippers he's a boy. Old family trick.

well their probably just playing around. but if you really want to find out, look under Pepper's tail. if there is just a little hole, its a girl. if their is a hole and a furry "butt" above it, its a guy. hope this helps!
