Good for you for really valuing it and thinking it through!!
What I like to do is go through my day and think about what I do the most and that I like to do. These could all be possibilities for things to give up (like listening to the radio, wearing nail polish, eating snacks, ect...) I even heard of a lady who gave up wearing makeup for lent!! Nothing is too excessive- Christ gave up his life for you! :)
Just think of what is important to you and what you place your values on that you don't need. Also, pray about it. Surely God can help you to decide what to sacrifice for him!!
Good Luck!! It's awesome to hear of people who still care! :)
God Bless YoU!

Go all out, give up food. Fast for Lent, or maybe just semi-fast. Like, don't eat during the day or something.
Give up make-up and vanities like that. That's a statement.

Please don't discount this answer just because you have been told otherwise.

Try giving up the idea that God is judgmental or would allow a place like hell to exist.

Just try to spend that time thinking of God as being unconditionally loving.

You will be doing God and your self a big Favor.

Love and blessings Don

The way you phrased your question itself suggests an answer. Your sacrifice should be meaningful, and you described yourself as a very religious person. So... give up your faith and be an atheist during Lint.

your are to to give up something you enjoy... i dont think anyone on the Internet really knows what YOU enjoy.

that is something you should really think up yourself. this is something YOU are doing for YOUR GOD. why would you ask someone else what YOU should do?

_BUT_ as some ideas:
TV, make up, Soda, Candy, fast food, dont buy any new music/shoes/etc., give up some of your time during your day (or week) and help out at your church or something.

well think about it, like what is separating you form God?, but i like to think of lent as not giving up something like foods, or something like that, but giving something a little more, like reading my bible, or praying , or doing something for someone that i wouldn't do most the time so you don't have to give up something, you can give something

Give up something that you can't imagine yourself going a day without. For example, chocolate, it doesn't have to be anything very big, its the action and prayer that counts.

If youhave any addictions- chocolate, alcohol, excessive eating, non-eating (anorexiz/bulemia), cigarettes, that will be the first to go
then consider time management things,
financial things,
sleep/exercise (no, not give up sleep and exercise, give up on missing out on them)
etc. good luck finding something that suits you =)

I don't think lent is dumb cause nobody lent me nothing. I think you should give up breathing smog by getting an oxidizer, and I think you should give up lollipops and quit suckin on those things so much, and also, for lent, someone lent me something that broke and I gave it back and he says, I will never lent nobody nothing again. Duh.
