According to belief, God stopped Abraham just before he killed Ishmael...

If he bothered to save one person, why did he let millions of lives slip away in the course of 10 years??????

He should feel even more guilty, considering that those people died for their RELIGION.

First of all, the story with Abraham, he was asked by God to go and sacrifice. God wanted Abraham to see that his sons are not really his but everything belongs to God. When Abraham realized this he was ready to kill but then God said no because it was no longer necessary.

Holocaust God didn't ask for. The suffering that we have are caused by us so that we may see that we have gone astray. Suffering can also be a purifier, if we have done bad things in a former life or even this life. In any case, all are lessons to be learned. When we have learned the lesson, the reason for the suffering has lost its meaning and will dissolved.

Today there are millions of people suffering all over the world. It is not God's fault. We can have a paradise on Earth but ego is the ruler of the world as it is now. When we want God to be the ruler, and we start doing God's Will, the world will be transformed.

God commanded Abraham to Kill Issacl. It was a test to see if he would do anything the Lord commanded. When God saw that he would obey, he stopped him, because that is not really what he wanted. Abraham passed the test. All men are given Agency. Abraham excersized his agency by submitting to the will of the Lord. He did not take his agency away by stopping him from killing Issac because that is not what Abraham wanted to do.

The Holocaust was ochestrated by very evil men. They too were using their agency. IN order for the Lord to stop them, he would have been taking away their agency. If the Lord stopped us from doing bad, even Horrible things, then we would never learn. Sure our choices affect others around us, but each person has the right to decide how they will use their agency. In the case of the Holocaust, look how many people dealt with that event by using their agency to make life easier on others. There were many non- Jewish families who hid Jews in their home, because they knew it was wrong. Good men joined the militaries of the Allied forces to stop the Holocaust. Some men took their families and fled the occupied countries to avoid Military service. Some went along with the Holocaust. Some didn't agree, but didn't do anything to stop it. Some Jews hid the fact that they were Jews. If the Lord had stopped Hitler, he would have taken away everybody's right to choose.

Also there are some very powerful lessons that we can learn from this horrific event. We can learn the importance of making sure that evil dictators, don't do this again. We can make sure that we don't harbor hatred toward another people. We can make sure that we do everything in our power to prevent these things. If the Lord stopped bad things from happening, then we would never learn anything. Everyone would think the same and be the same. He wants us to do right, not because he forces us, but because we know that is right and that is what we want to do.

Your first line says "according to belief" but that's where the problem lies. This is just a parable, a mythological story like any other found in religious scriptures. It paints a picture of the kind of society that existed at the time.

God, if there is one, had nothing to do with the atrocity of the holocaust nor any other atrocities that still happen or will happen in the future. Don't place the blame on an entity that may or may not exist. We as a human race failed in that instance when we let the holocaust occur and should therefore acknowledge the failure and attempt to prevent a similar occurrence in the future.

First of all, it was Isaac, not Ishmael. Second, you're referencing two completely different issues. Abraham was being tested on his trust in God, and God never intended for Isaac to die. He had promised Abraham that his descendants would be as the stars in the sky, through Isaac. He was simply testing Abraham's faith. Would Abraham trust in the promise God had given him?

The holocaust happened because God, in His perfect wisdom, allowed us free choice. Hitler and his cronies chose to follow the evil path. If God didn't give us free will, we'd all be little robots with no choice, and we'd all just be perfect and that would be pointless.

Free will is not something we should take for granted, it is one of God's greatest gifts to us. Think about the greatest growth you've had in your life, doesn't it come through adversity? Who would we be if life was perfect?

The Jews did not necessarily die for their religion. Jewish is a race as well. I think it was the race of Jews that Hitler was killing.

Many who ask these questions have suffered extreme personal loss and seek not just answers but solace. Others see the Holocaust as the height of human evil, and they struggle to believe in God.

Common misconceptions about God and the Holocaust
Myth: It’s wrong to ask why God allowed the Holocaust.

Fact: People of great faith have questioned why God allows evil. For instance, the prophet Habakkuk asked God: “Why do you allow violence, lawlessness, crime, and cruelty to spread everywhere?” (Habakkuk 1:3, Contemporary English Version) Rather than rebuke Habakkuk, God had the questions he asked recorded in the Bible for all to read.

Myth: God doesn’t care about human suffering.

Fact: God hates wickedness and the suffering it causes. (Proverbs 6:16-19) Back in the days of Noah, God “felt hurt at his heart” because of the violence spreading in the earth. (Genesis 6:5, 6) No doubt, God also felt tremendous pain over the Holocaust.—Malachi 3:6.

Myth: The Holocaust was God’s punishment of the Jews.

Fact: God did allow Jerusalem to be destroyed by the Romans in the first century. (Matthew 23:37–24:2) Since then, however, God does not single out any ethnic group for special favor or for punishment. In God’s view, “there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles.”—Romans 10:12, Good News Translation.

Myth: If a loving and all-powerful God existed, he would have prevented the Holocaust.

Fact: Although God never causes suffering, he sometimes allows it temporarily.—James 1:13; 5:11.

Why did God allow the Holocaust?
God allowed the Holocaust for the same reason that he has permitted all human suffering: to settle moral issues that were raised long ago. The Bible clearly indicates that at present the Devil, not God, rules the world. (Luke 4:1, 2, 6; John 12:31) While the article linked to this topic provides a full discussion of why God allows suffering, two basic facts from the Bible can help explain why God allowed the Holocaust.

Whose free will caused the Holocaust? God told the first humans, Adam and Eve, what he expected of them, but he did not force them to obey. They chose to decide for themselves what was good and bad, and their bad choice—and similar choices by people throughout history—has brought horrible consequences to mankind. (Genesis 2:17; 3:6; Romans 5:12) It is as the book Statement of Principles of Conservative Judaism says: “Much of the world’s suffering directly results from our misuse of the free will granted to us.” Rather than revoke our free will, God has given humans time to try to manage their affairs independent of him.
God can and will undo all the damage of the Holocaust. God promises to bring back to life millions who have died, including Holocaust victims. He will also eliminate the pain that Holocaust survivors feel because of horrific memories. (Isaiah 65:17; Acts 24:15) God’s love for mankind guarantees that he will fulfill these promises.—John 3:16.
Many Holocaust victims and survivors were able to maintain their faith and find meaning in life by understanding why God has allowed evil and how he purposes to undo its effects.

God's greatest gift to mortal man is choice. If he were to prevent the choices of man then it would not be according to the divine creation of life. God gave this choice because if you want to eat an apple you can eat an apple. You will experience the flavour, texture and sensation of what it means to eat and apple. You will also have to pay for the consequences of eating a bad apple. It is all part of learning. You cannot have hot without cold. You cannot have black without white. You also cannot have good without evil. How you perceive your reality is your choice.

I fully intend on asking God just that question.
It goes with the question "why do bad things happen to good people?" I don't understand.
The homeless. People dying of disease. Chronic Pain. The sick. The countries around the world that have starving people. Some day
we will all know the answer. Until then, we can only wonder.

first of all ,it wasn't just jews that were killed durring the holocaust. they were also blacks, muslims, gypsys, people with brown hair, people with green eyes, anyone who didn't fit hitler's description of the "divine race" as he called it (white, blue eyes, blonde hair).
now to aswer your question, why not ask why he didn't stop the masacre of native americans or the world wars? the reason is not that there is no god but that he wants us to learn our own lessons. when we chose sin in the beginning, mass death was one of the side effects and it has happened over and over in history.
