I've never heard of it, but find it humorous that you say America "barely" won the war yet you quote a Brit general who thought the Americans had the power to kill all other combatants combined. Thanks for accidentally telling the truth. I noticed you didn't say Americans ducked. We were too busy saving you from Hitler while you Brits were hiding from the Luftwaffe, at least according to the general you quote.

And the reason everybody ducked? When you're being shot at, you don't look to see if they're friends or enemies before you drop the bombs.

I heard it from a Northumberland Fusilier, he put it in terms of who fired:

When the British flew over the Germans fired, when the Germans flew over the British and Americans fired, when the Americans flew over everybody fired.

The USAF has always had a reputation for being trigger happy, unreliable. They killed more Brits in each gulf war than the Iraqis did.
