Uh, yeah, it is. It is so versatile. No sandwich, hot or cold, would be complete without it. The omelet would be bland, the caserole lifeless, the salad drab, and the soup lacking spice. The onion can be batter fried, fried, sliced, diced, julienned, and pickled. There is no other vegetable that can replace it and none provides even a semi-adequate substitution. Thus endeth the apologetics for God's greatest vegetable creation: the onion.
