cand dogs get pregnant without being in heat? not planning on breeding just want to know.

well some male dogs are really horny and dont care if a female is in heat so it wouldnt matter if she had the scent, they would still go at her so can someone tell me if they can get pregnant by what i just wrote

Usually a male dog will not try to get with a female unless she is in heat, with the scent. This is why they use scent in the Vets office when obtaining a sample for testing or to send to a ***** in heat far away, or freeze for future use. Most female dogs will not allow a male who ignores scent to mount her when she is not in heat.

If for some reason she did allow it (most would become very aggressive and fight the male) she would not get pregnant because she only has eggs available to fertilize during the heat cycle.

Just because a dog humps a leg doesn't mean he will do the same to a girl dog not in heat. It is usually not the actual 'deed' it's a show of dominance.

Many breeders have male studs and females who live in harmony without a problem when the female isn't in heat.

No they can't get pregnant if they aren't in heat..be aware though that some dogs can be in heat and show no signs..it's called a silent heat.

Dogs don't have sex because it's fun. They have it because nature commands them. Without heat the scent is absent and the female won't attract the male.

normally they dont when they get prgnant is when they are in heat but once they have a first litter it is much easier for them to get pregnant just like a human they go into heat once every six months and every dog in your neighborhood will pick up her scent

nope. but for the entire time that they are in heat, they can become pregnant. this is why one litter of puppies can have different daddys
