I have a Sharper Image 3-cd stereo hooked up to a 6 speaker powered subwoofer system. :). When I am playing CDs, radio, or something on my auxiliary cable, I get a background noise. Western station 98.7 to be exact. It has started to get really annoying. Sometimes it plays louder than the music I am playing. Just when I think I can escape, the cordless phone rings. I cab hear it there too. On the phone, I can hardly hear the person on the other line.

Is there some way of eliminating this background noise on either device, or perhaps just lowering its volume? Any suggestions would be well appreciated.

It sounds like 98.7 did some maintenance on their transmitter and didn't get everything back together correctly. They are required by law not to interfere with other electronic devices.

You should call them and complain (nicely) about their interference. They will probably investigate and find out that they messed up somewhere. If they don't fix it, call the FCC and make a formal complaint (give the station a little time, since sometimes they can only do work in off hours). The FCC will force them (eventually) to get rid of your interference. Some stations actually end up installing equipment in people's homes to eliminate the problems.
