ever heard of Red Brick Pizza? It beats all those fast food places but it's a bit more pricey. However, I have come to find that the California Pizza Kitchen has the awesomest pizzas and beverages. it's actually a pizza restaurant. I go to the one in Palm Springs.

Two in San DIego:
1) Old Venice on Point Loma, with not only the standard toppings, but some wonderful "gourmet" toppings, and
2) Pizza Nova, either in Hillcrest or on Harbor Drive between the airport and Pt Loma

Definitely agree that it is Old Venice. That is the closest to East Coast pizza (which is THE best).

No.....and most people in San Diego have no idea what a good pizza looks like or tastes like. Hence...Papa Johns and other equally lame answers.
