It tells them it is OK, Children follow by example. Smart kids, onmes that have good decision making skills are more apt to turn away from this but hey if Mommy is tokin' and sets it down is she going to be conscious enough to tell little Laura that it is bad for you. Then gee Mommy why do you do it.......

That depends on the child. My brother and I are a good case study. We both grew up in an alcoholic/druggie household. My brother fell into that lifestyle and still abuses alcohol to this day. I saw what was going on, didn't like it & never got involved. (I drink, I even smoked cigarettes for a few years, but I never abused drugs or alcohol to excess)

But when you are a parent, I would think it would be best to err on the side of caution & not do things that set a bad example.

obviously not a good example but the main concern should be that the children are being neglected if a parent is an addict. unfortunately the children will have a very difficult road and potentially use when they get older.

Obviously not a good one! I know people who had parents who did the same and so that's how they grew up, getting messed up with their parents. Now they have kids of their own and they think they're hiding it, but their kids know the truth. It won't be long and they'll be included too. It's a shame.
