It has always sounded disgusting to me. I like mine a la mode! Does anyone actually put cheese on their apple pie?

OMG i know. i married a guy from newyork and when i went up to meet the parent of my husband, they served apple pie for dessert. then they sliced sharp cheddar in top of it. DISGUSTING! they also put ketchup on their mac and cheese, grilled cheeses, and eggs. I am from south carolina and i thought we ate some weird stuff.

This is so funny! We just had this discussion this morning. YUM! A good slice of cheddar on warm apple pie! YUM! A friend of mine uses sliced American cheese, my son in law says don't put cheese near his apple pie - only ice cream. But yes a strong yummy hunk of cheddar on a hot slice - it gets warm but doesn't melt - must be a tart apple pie, not an overly sweet one. What a combo!

Home made apple pie still warm out of the oven with a big hunk of sharp cheddar cheese is THE BEST.
Seriously, try it before you say it's gross.

Very popular in Califrn. especially cheddar. old saying ."apple pie without the cheese is like a hug without the squeeze"!!!! chew on that one for a while.

I agree with you, it doesn't sound appealing.
I only like caramel sauce or vanilla ice cream on my
apple pie.
And I don't know of any Mexicans that put cheese on their
apple pie, they'll tell you save it for the sandwich. lol

its supposed to be cheddar cheese not American. its delicious, i thought it was crazy the first time i heard of it, ice cream is made of milk too. oh and the pie has to be hot. im of Mexican decent but i am well traveled and educated
