The military might of Iran and it's people is vested in thousands of years of existance. They have a population of 70 million compared to Iraq's 10 million. Any type of mass offensive in the region would COMPLETELY STOP the oil flowing out of the middle east for THE WORLD causing the price to skyrocket as noted. How big of a reserve tank is in your back yard?

Just look how close Bush came to pre-emptively striking and count your blessings that cooler heads prevailed.

I'm with thomp99 on this ... oil needs to be priced taking all variables into account. Hell, look at the trillions of our hard earned bucks going to this war, which is all about oil.

It's time we became more efficient energy-wise. It's time our cars got better mileage, our asses got smaller. Pedaling would do us good. We couldn't fight a ground war if we were invaded any better than a fat sheriff's debuty could chase a crook.

Why, please tell me, that we can send men to the moon, go from a room-sized Cray down to a laptop computer, iPods, cellphones, artificial hearts, etc. YET Detroit cannot improve the gas efficiency of the internal combustion engine, and indeed has gone backwards since the 70's??? Coud it be? Satan?! oops, I mean, BIG OIL???

We need a war on stupidity. We need to see our dependence as the terrorist it is. We need a good look in the mirror and on the scale and then, a good diet.

I say good...give us $600 a barrel prices and maybe we can finally address the problem with america's inefficient use of oil. Europe's gas prices are astronomical and they have a system of trains and mass transit that make commuting with cars in the city unnecessary. America needs to build a rail system so that we don't have to depend on foreign oil to move us, and so we can seriously address the problem of global warming. The transportation industry contributes around 25-30% of total CO2 emissions and the sooner gas prices become to high the sooner we have an incentive to start building alternative modes of transportation and cars that run on different kinds of fuel

Just a sidebar - I doubt that you even know what a neo-con is. You are accusing former Democrats who switched sides of wrong doings. I guess the lifelong Republicans get a free ride.

In regards to the oil price, every administration for the last 50 years has covered us with sh.... sorry, has covered us with residue. If the government was not in bed with the oil companies, we would not need middle eastern oil

Mr. Paul is greater Libertarian then conservative. The oil spill isn't BP's fault it became into an twist of destiny. Obama isn't being blamed for the spill he's being blamed for his sluggish reaction, BPs first advice became into the oil cap they are doing now. 5 WEEKS in the past. The white domicile mentioned no, come across different concepts. 7 concepts later and we are lower back to BP's first decision. look it up. Obamas' a disaster. it is going to take this united states of america years to recover from what he has executed so a techniques. yet another 2 and a nil.5 years of this? we are screwed.

For the love of humanity, let's end the war now and prevent another one with Iran.

I say we send over all the people who justify the Iraq war and who want a strike in Iran to go there yourself to fight! Put your body where your mouth is!

Mark your calendars: 3/17/07 - March on the Pentagon in DC to bring our troops home now.

You libs need to stick to one lame story at a time. If 'war mongering' neocons are waging war all over the planet just for oil, the price should never be above $20 a barrel.

We wouldn't have to pay so much for oil if the DEFEATOCRATS would let us renew Our refineries and drill for Our OWN oil!
The thing with iran will happen now or later, rest assured it's going to happen no matter who's President!

The one, who knows nothing about pol. eco. and dip., can only think of oil as reason of war? If we got oil, what would be the price for gas now?
