I work in an Airport and I see a lot of people get stopped because they have to much luggage as 'carry on luggage'. Think about what you really want on board with you and only pack the minimum.
For example: Liquids...don't bring water/Juices etc. thru security, buy it air side.
Food: enough for the flight.
Make-up and toiletries : keep everything below 100mils or the security staff will ask you to dispose of it before you are allowed to pass. If the bottle/ can, holds say 200ml and youve used 150 ml it will still be taken from you.
Look at every label you are packing for this 100ml restriction.
Medications: Enough for the flight
Remember 9/11, because Americans wont forget that in a hurry and if you push the boundaries they will flag you as a risky passenger and you may not be allowed to fly.If flagged ,you are ID on lots of data bases, so obey the rules, pack lite and enjoy your trip which must have cost you a lot of hard earned money.
If in doubt, pack everything else in your big case and enjoy the movie :-)*

I work for Delta, and you can pretty much bring in what you are able to pack in a checked luggage suitcase. The big thing right now is what another person mentioned is that you can not bring in any kind of liquid or gels over 3.4 ounces. Also if you smoke, you can not carry on any kind of lighter or more then 4 books of matches.
If anyone's bag is too big to fit in the overhead compartment or underneath the seat we pink tag it and basically that means that you leave it planeside and it gets stowed and you pick it up planeside at your destination.
As stated by another person you can't bring in any water etc, but anything you buy regardless of size past the security checkpoint you are able to take on the plane.

Pretty much nothing, so leave the guns, bombs, bottled water and everything else at home. Go to their website and it should tell you more in detail whats allowed and whats not. Whatever you can't bring on you can certainly check in at the desk.
