Depends. I have seen some in the paper for 250 or more. But, I would not purchase one that is 4 weeks old. That is too young of an age to take them away from mom. Puppies taken away that young can grow to develop lots of behavioral problems. It is best to wait until they are at the very least 8 weeks. A reputable breeder will not let the pups go to new homes until they are 10 to 12 weeks old.

Pricing would all depend on the lines the pup is from, ie: show lines, is the pup to be a show dog, or a pet? I do hope that you research as much as is possible the owner/breeder. Do they just breed for the sake of breeding and making some money off their dogs, do they breed in an effort to improve the breed....etc. Does your girlfriend want or have the time for a puppy? As far as pricing, I would imagine you could expect to pay upwards of $500 for a decent healthy pup. I do hope if you put a deposit down on the pup of your choice, that you leave the pup with mom and siblings until at least he is 8 weeks of age.

I hope to God this person isn't letting these puppies go at 4 weeks. A 4 week old puppy is not ready to leave its mother. Anyone breeder that sales a puppy at that age should be reported. If I were you I would do just that. No puppies should leave their mommies until they are 8 weeks old. Have their puppy shots and at least two worming done. Please if she is letting them go do something about it. I see a lot of people yelling in here about back yard breeders this is a good time to do something about it.

From a reputable breeder...$2500.00

Don't buy from a pet store or a backyard breeder. Get your girl a shelter dog if you can't afford a purebred. Love comes in all shapes and sizes at your local shelter. You can also look up a shi tzu rescue in your area. Just google Shi Tzu Rescue and start emailing.

I agree, I didn't notice the age. You never take a puppy under 8 weeks away from mom. They need the immune builders in mom's milk and they don't even piddle without her help before then. If you do find someone who wants to sell you apuppy that young, call the humane society in your area. They should be reported and their dogs be taken from them.

Puppies usually go for 450-700$ depending on their bloodline and papers, etc. However, it's illegal to buy a puppy under 8 weeks old.. anything younger than 8 weeks is too young to survive without it's mother.

I would hope that no reputable breeder would release any puppies before 8-10 weeks! I would be careful of this one.
