Take away the puppy-pads and teach the puppies to go outside!
Pads are disgusting and will only prolong housebreaking.

Try putting the pad in a puppy pad holder. It's a plastic frame to hold the pad down and prevent the puppies from moving it or chewing the edges. You can generally get them for five to ten dollars and they can be worth their weight in gold for puppies who tear up pads. Also make sure the have plenty of chew toys to satisfy the urge to chew.

If by puppy pads you mean those housebreaking pads that smell like urine?
Toss them and use the good old fashioned method. Crate train and watch like a hawk.
If your pup thinks it's OK to smell urine in the house it will be much harder to break.
There are lots of articles on housetraining a puppy. But mostly its watch them every second they're not confined. Put puppy to sleep at night in the crate to train him to hold it. You may be woken up in the middle of the night though (that's pretty normal for a baby) Take pup out after he wakes up, eats, plays or starts wandering around with nose to the floor. Depending on the age of the pup they usually have to go about every hour or two if they're really young.

I agree, giving them toys might help. But, they are attracted to the smell of the pads, used or clean (as there is an enzyme in the pads which attract dogs when the urge to urinate occurs-I don't know what it is or how that works).
That having been said, some puppies eat their excrement if you don't catch them right after they poo. It's a puppy thing, gross but just a typical puppy thing.

You shouldn't be using puppy pads in the first place, that just makes the dog think that it's OK to use the bathroom in the house. Teach your dog to go outside.

When you see them ripping it up the hold their snout and say a firm "NO" but only WHILE they are doing it. you must CATCH them. do not scold them 30 seconds after theyve stopped other wise they wont understand. Its very strange how your dogs react to the pad. My dog goes on it finely. Hes almost going to the front door to go outside now. oh and try giving your puppies something else to chew on instead of scolding if you prefer. good luck.

I am not a fan of these pads. I would suggest crate training your dog, forget the pads. Train your dogs to go outside from the start.

you could spend a lot more time teaching them not to rip things. or you could get a chong( ch-ong) ( ask at the pet store) Its great for dogs that like to chew.
