I think eating copy paper is bad for your health. Paper contains cellouse, and and other different chemicals. According in what I heard, paper is made by wood chips. hen water and heat, and sometimes chemicals, are added to separate the wood into individual fibers. The fiber is mixed with lots of water (and often recycled fiber), and then this pulp slurry is sprayed onto a huge flat wire screen which is moving very quickly through the paper machine. Water drains out, and the fibers bond together. The web of paper is pressed between rolls which squeeze out more water and press it to make a smooth surface. Heated rollers then dry the paper, and the paper is slit into smaller rolls, and sometimes into sheets, and removed from the paper machine. Try asking this question in the Best of Yahoo answers, or a Biology teacher. They might know.

Yes, it does have negative effects. Not only can it 'clog' you up quite a bit if you eat too much (sometimes necessitating surgery--- seriously!) but paper is definitely not good for you.
In the far past, paper was made from wood pulp and water-- and little else. Now all kinds ingredients are used and lots of toxic chemicals are involved in the process--- including various heavy-duty bleaching agents etc.
I mean it most kindly when I say you should try to get help for this problem. People become 'addicted' to eating all kinds of bizarre stuff-- it is not such a weird and rare thing. Don't be embarrassed--- just get some help with it. Compulsive behaviors respond well to various therapies.
Good luck!

I would have to say definately. All those chemicals that they use to bleach/dye and process the paper into its finished product can't be good for your body. I don't think you will die from it but those chemicals are toxins and over a long period of time they do build up and attach themselves to your fat cells and they can cause many problems. Such problems could be ADD, depression, low energy levels, and much more. You should really be carefull with what you place into your body. Many processed foods, artificial flavors, colors and foods that have been grown with pesticides are dangerous because are a toxin. Just remember, your brain contains more fat than any part of your body and since toxins attach themselves to fat over time you can see an impact. Why do you think so many kids/adults have depression/ADD and the many many other problems they do?

I would imagine that it is. It is called pica. It is a condition that makes humans want to eat items that are not for eating.

Maybe for your mental health -- you should probably be talking to a professional about this...
