Loving momma...
the punishments would be the sin and people living in pain and fear.
Bit like under the nazis.
And much of the things these groups punish for are not wrong ie gays, kite flying, loving unmarried couples, being a porn star etc.
Oh and how bout explining what was wrong in healing the sick as a wityhc with knowledge of herbal medicine and helping people find live with 'dumbos magic feather' love bands

Why on earth would you pick the Taliban as a criticism of purity? I mean, that was horrible of them, and they were incredibly oppressive and dangerous. But there is a difference between a government forcing people to stay pure and modest, and individuals choosing it on their own.You seem to think that they are the same thing.

Ok, I got stuck on the woman getting stonned to death. I must first comment a few things. The Iranian girl that was stonned to death because her brother was allowed to rape her and had nothing to do Islam or any other religion. As everybody knows Iran is sick and messed up. With regards to the woman being stonned to death, I agree it is very distrubing-VERY, but there is more to it then just what you see on the video. In islam there is a reason that people who commit adultry while married are given so severe a punishment and I don't have the reasons why off-hand. What is so rediculus is that these people who practice these punishments don't follow the proper prosedures before condemming the person to death. It is nearly impossible to pass judgement on a person if everything is done right, but with the extremists they just take at the first whim to kill a woman(or anybody they deem as deserving). What I am basically saying is that God has placed rules on earth to preserve us, but we as people decided to mutilate and massicare these laws to our own sick likings.

People of all faiths interpret their "holy words" exactly how they want to...most times completely leaving God out of the whole process. All though I did not watch any of those videos(no need I have the nightly news to remind me of the inhumanity of man) i can well imagine the Talibans actions and hugely ego driven male dominated interpretation of the Holy Quran. God says in the Quran that there is no compulsion in religion. He doesnt specify that Islam is the religion he's referring to...just religion in general. The Taliban is a very poor example of what true Islam is. Anyone basing their opinion on Islam from the actions of the Taliban...or any muslims that act like them...are basically seeing a whole different religion(man made one in my opinion).
Just thought I would ask the poster who claimed that stoning for adultery is an actual punishment ordered by God. Please show me anywhere in the Quran where God says that is the punishment. He says to lash the married adulterer with 80 lashes(upon absolute proof) and for the unmarried adulterer...half that of the married one. He says that if they repent and act moral after that to accept them back into the community and as good muslims. Please explain how you can accept the repentance of anyone that has been stoned to DEATH...and how can you half stone someone to death(as in the unmarried adulterer)? The stoning law came over from other religions and cultures that was brought by converts. There is no order from God and thats who we worship....not man.

What you you have is not properly representative of 'God fearing purity'. its seemingly people who abuse their power to get what they want and so are clearly neither God fearing or pure.
Life is not a competition, so theres no need to make comparisons between the pros and cons of obviously two extremes. Everybody has there problems we realise this it s a simple fact of life. Everybody choses to live their life in a certain way. We may question this sometimes but can we at least just respect peoples choices.

All ideals needed some worry to ascertain their fundamentals. in any different case who will pay attention to right here insane statements : a million) i'm the son of God 2) i'm the final messenger 3) I ll lead you to liberation. 4) Crores of Gods and Goddesses 5) Angels seem and disappeared into oblivion for better than hundreds of years.

Merely saying that fear of God is too compact a version of the issue. When you get realisations of greatness and power of God to create such a well organised and perfectly integerated operating system just for survival and progress of human beings, then it is follows how annoying would it be to disobey or disrupt the the system,as such the fear of God will truly appear to be the entirity of wisdom.

well think about it. if this was till the way things were done people would not be sinning as much. i think it is horrible punishment but i also think that if i had to live that way i would be sure to obey the laws, and keep myself out of trouble!
