You are old enough. They supposedly use them on infants too. Try doing everyday chores then maybe they'll understand.
And show them this: http://www.allaboutvision.com/parents/contacts.htm

Have your parents talk to the optometrist. Children as young as 9 yrs old wear contacts. They do NOT ruin your eyes, you are more likely to get an infection but that is due to lack of handwashing more so than to the contacts. Ask your parents what it would take to prove to them that you are responsible enough. Earn the money yourself, maybe. Contacts now cost LESS than a good pair of prescription eyeglasses. You can get a 3 month supply for $20. That times 4 is $80 for 1 years worth, glasses run anywhere from $150 to $300. Give them the facts and be patient.

You could try just communicating with them. Ask them what are they afraid of. I don't know where you live, but here in Finland we have to choose our career when we're 15 so i think you can reason with them. Also, ask for a chance to try how it would go. Just for a month or so. That way they could see that you are responsible enough. And poor girl, Tell them that you really do not like wearing your glasses. Who wants their child to suffer in any way? I'm guessing you don't like wearing them because you're embarrased too. And that's okay, but you need to remind your parents that it's not easy being a teen-ager. It could be 20, 30, even 40 years since they've been your age. The pressure is huge. I'm sure they'll snap out of it soon enough. Try your best but don't start a fight. Keep your voice down and behave and they might actually believe you're up for it. Good luck! :)

urgh I've had the same problem. I totally hated my glasses as well. And then I finally got to use contacts and it was great for a while, but then my eyes started hurting so I had to stop. I can tell you this, you NOTICE if your eyes doesn't agree with them, and then you can stop. But tell your parents that you at least want to try, it really doesn't hurt to try. Or get contacts that you only use for one day, they are much easier and you don't have to worry about cleaning them and stuff.

Show your parents your responsible by always doing your jobs around the house and homework. Do some research about contacts to show them that you really want them. I got contacts when I was 10, and my eyes are ok.

Save up the money for a pair to show them you're responsible and then ask again and tell them that your are going to be very serious about taking good care of them.

Most actors/actresses don't start off rich, you just have to know how to network and where opportunities are. Try looking for casting calls for extras in movies that are being filmed so you can see behind the scenes. Definitely take drama classes in highschool. Just look for opportunities and don't worry about forcing your way in.

tell them to stop treating you like a baby, and maybe it is because contacts are so expensive, offer that you will pay a part of the money, tell them that you think glasses get your eyes sore, tell them about a time when you we're resposible like taking care of your brother or sister or something like that

You should do some research and show them that contacts are safe and won't damage your eyes. Show them what you've learned and then ask them to come to an appointment with you.
Good luck1

Tell them you want to earn them and that you are willing to work at home for them until you debt is paid off and matches the amount of the contacts.
