My fiance is having major pains in his stomach, the left side all the way down to his groin area. He says it feels like sharp pains, like its twisting, or something. He has had this for almost a week. It only happens before he goes to sleep. It lasts atleast 4 to 6 hours, sometimes all night.

What can cause this?
(stress, indigestion, ulcers, dehydration, etc?)

My fiance has a hard time going #2. He feels like he has to go, so he goes in there and sits for 5 mins but nothing comes out. The following morning he spends a few moments and everything comes out...so, weird!

My fiance finally decided to go to the store last night and bought some Dulcolax. It really helped him, he told me this morning that he has had the best night...never woke up once...and no pain at all. (I guess it was it because he couldn't go #2, this mornign he went like crazy so i guess that was his problem.) Thanks for all your help and answers.

When your internal plumbing is not moving things along, you can feel bloated and stuffed. Constipation can mimic the sensation of indigestion and leave you unable to function normally. If you're having frequent bouts with extremely severe constipation, it's a good idea to examine your diet and lifestyle first. When you go without a bowel movement for a few days or don't allow yourself to have a bowel movement when the urge hits, you risk the moisture from the stool being absorbed back into your body.

Left lower quadrant pain can be a sign of appendicitis, a bowel obstruction, or other stuff. An inflamed appendix or a bowel obstruction can burst at any time, leading to very bad complications. Suggest you take him to an urgent care clinic and get him a CT right away.

Possibly an ulcer. But if it feels like a really intense feeling of something that doesnt agree with you, it could just be your bladder shriveled up. Drink a LOT of water and eat and try to stretch that area by leaning back as much as you can. It helps a lot!
