That is good that she can be seen without having to wait - some people have to wait 6 weeks for their first appointment - hope all goes well for her - it is a very anxious time

Hey there, I think you are saying that she had a smear test and had abnormal cells, so she now has to go into hospital.

Don't worry, it probably isn't cancer yet. I have the same thing. I have had 3 abnormal smears and have to go into hospital to the Colposcopy clinic. Check out this link:

It's not a pleasant experience, but just remember, cervical cancer is one of the most treatable forms of cancer when caught early.

a pap smear test. A doctor scraps the cervix to get a few cells and checks them. They check some under a microscope and some in a tube with some kinda of liquid it it. Abnormal Cells makes her need another test maybe a biopsy. Doctor takes a piece of the cervical tissue and look at it. I've had it done. hurts a bit.

not used much now - machines to do that.

THat is the thing that bothers me the most - waiting for results.

hope she's ok.

do you mean she has a colposcopy appointment? that's what they do when abnormal cells are found from a smear test, they have a look and see what's going on.

I am so sorry about your friend. This can be a very scary time. The best thing you can do is be there for your friend. God bless.
