My family had an American Eskimo for 15 years although he died in August. I have never heard of a sheltie but our american eskimo was very loyal but not friendly this may have bewen because he was abused at his birth home lukily we got him. I would do research An American Eskimo can be a big dog They come in minnatures though Consider the home you live in is it big or small. Consider your price range American Eskimos are expensive dogs if you want purebreed. Will the dog be an inside or outside dog. How much time do you plan on spending away from your dog. (With our American Eskimo he didnt mind being left alone long periods of time) Where will your dog sleep. Will you have time to feed clean walk train play ect. Remember it is not healthy to not train your dog they could get hurt. All these questions should be considered
Here are some website

I hope I have been a help although I am not educated on the sheltie group.

I think you should go with a sheltie because you know that deep down in your heart you really want one. Remember how cute Liberty was as a puppy just think if you were to get a nother sheltie how much fun you'd have! Love YA
