You may not really have dandruff, you may have a form of head psorosis. I would suggest going to a dermatologist. It can be solved very easily. Are you using a shampoo for dandruff. If it is regular dandruff, Head and Shoulders should work. If you want to try something a little more serious you can try a tar shampoo or something with teatree oil, those will work for dandruff and for head psorosis. But, a dermatologist can give you something with a perscription and you can get rid of it for good.

By washing the hair you are irritating the scalp and causing more of skin to be shed off. You will probably have to treat your hair with dandruff shampoo or anti-dandruff serum, both available at most pharmacies and stores such as kmart, walmart, target, etc. After using this shampoo or serum for a period of time, the dandruff should start going away. Winter tends to make the skin dry, so as we move into spring it should help some too.

Shampoos remove oil, freeing up the flakes. You need to lube 'em.

(I saw recently that Tea Tree Oil was NOT recommended for use by young males. Seems to suppress some hormones and they sometimes experience unwanted breast enlargement, which is reverseable with time.)

Typical dandruff shampoos should assist you: Head & Shoulders, Selsun Blue and the like. Also oil based hair products such as Bryl Cream if you care for that type of thing.

You probably need to change your shampoo. Try one specifically for dandruff. You may also have dry scalp, so washing your hair frequently and scrubbing will just make it worse. If nothing works, try seeing a dermatologist.

dandruff can increase when you wash your hair because your scalp becomes dry and more flaky. Some good anti-dandruff shampoos will remove the dandruff and also re-hydrate your scalp.

you also need to wash everyday.

The reason you get more dandruff after using shampoo is this. The skin of your scalp replaces itself often which is normal. Oil from the base of the hair is also in ongoing production and it mixes with the dead layer of skin on top of the scalp. Shampoo, which is basically dish-washing detergent in a fancy-shaped bottle with a different fragrance, washes away all the oil under the layer of dead skin. When your scalp dries after washing, the dead skin left on top is light and flaky, rather like peeling sunburn because there is no scalp oil to "glue it in place". Shampoo degreases your scalp of oil but leaves the latest layer of dead skin or mild dandruff sitting on the surface of your scalp. This is why you have more obvious dandruff after washing your hair.

People with dry skin in general with fine hair types may find they have this kind of "dandruff problem" which is mostly a feature after washing with shampoo. Those with very oily scalps, and bronze-coloured skin, may not get any dandruff at all.

One remedy to get rid of this dead skin on the scalp is to just wash your hair with coconut oil conditioner and no shampoo. You have to do it a couple of times, but you might find your hair turns really soft and nice and that your scalp has little or no dead skin on it after washing. For some reason, the coconut conditioner seems to remove the dead skin cells, but does not leave the hair looking greasy afterwards. I have tried this and discovered an improvement to my scalp by accident. Coconut oil conditioner has really helped my skin in general. I was using shampoo a lot and it was so harsh on my scalp it would leave a layer of dead skin cells after the wash, and not only that, I would find I had dead skin cells in my eyebrow skin and on my cheeks after using shampoo. If you have dry skin, it is better to avoid using shampoo if you can. For those who have a serious large-flake dandruff problem, Head and Shoulders or Selsun Blue is highly effective. These anti-dandruff shampoos are not good for those with dry skin though. I found I had worse dandruff after using those two shampoos, because my skin is sensitive and dry.

I know of two (dandruff) shampoos that work really well:

Head & Shoulders (no kidding)
Tea Tree Oil (comes in lots of brands and is very natural)

well A: that's not a question
B: try not to use as much shampoo and conditionor
if you use pantene pro-v it produces goop and more dandruff. You may want to go to a hair place and ask if they coul clearify it. Then don't use Pantene anymore
C: try using Denorex. If i spelled it correctly. It leaves your hair with a freash clean feeling....literally.
D: Hope this helps
E: I used pantene and found out myself that pantene has an acidic PH level that is too high for the scalp and hair. It makes your hair dull and dry.
