It could be a sinus infection (stuffy nose, pain in her neck) and *possibly* the beginning of the flu (achiness). I would suggest that she take whichever type of pain reliever she prefers (Tylenol, Advil, etc.) for the achiness and neck pain, a warm bath or shower which will help unclog her nose (for a little while anyway) and help the achiness and make sure she get lots of rest. Also make sure she drinks plenty of water or juice to prevent dehydration. She should go to the doctor if she doesn't feel better in the next few days or if her current symptoms get worse.

Any neck pain or stiffness accompanied by a fever or flu-like symptoms could be meningitis. This is very serious.

Your friend needs to see a doctor if she's very sick and is not getting better.

I'm just curious why it's so urgent if someone has a cold or flu? That's kind of a weird reaction.

it could be the cold or the flu in beggining stages, quiet honestly it could be a lot of things, my recomendation would be to go to www.webmd.com and use their interactive symptom checker, that will narrow it down for you and tell u what to do.
