OK. I am stumped. My 14 yr old son has to create an edible earth model. His idea is to make a hemisphere created with peanut butter rice krispy treats. Then cover it with white frosting and then take food coloring to create the continents. He then wants to cut out a quarter and create the "layers" with frosting and food coloring also. This is a great idea, I KNOW, i just wanted to see if there where any more ideas out there.

Thanks.

a rice krispy ball for the planet would be great,,,you could buy colored candy clay at a store like Michael's or any craft store that has a baking aisle. He could use blue candy clay all over and then cut away the clay for the krispies to show through for the land. They have white candy clay he could use for the artic and antartic...just a thought.

i would leave the peanut butter out . some schools don't want that in the school . another thing is that will make the surface all brown . you don't want that you want it to start off blue then add brown for the land raised up from the sea. to make the land after i would make it from rice crisp mix too but make less and make only enough for one Continent at a time shaping it on top of a wax paper cut out of the continents.
i would use white icing powder to make the snow.
i most likely wound fail this assignment as i would just eat it and forget about school

If my son''future son'' was in that competition he'll smoke your son, but since he not then you could steal my idea. take 2 SNICKER BARS. THE BIG ONES THAT COST A DOLLAR A PIECE . LETS NOT BE CHEAP HERE.
then stand them up parallel to each other. put it in the microwave for 32 secs. and VAH-LAH.
you now have to melting buildings from Halo 2 *^_^*

I like the Rice crispy idea, but make sure you incorporate a hanger of some sort....otherwise handling it might destroy it.

If it's HIS project, let him go with that idea. It's about his creativity so i wouldn't get in the way of that.

This question doesn't merit the caution or the capitals. Please control that urge. Your son's idea is a fine one, and it is his project, so why are you looking for another idea?
