If TVG is dumping its major tracks over the course of 18months, i.e. churchill downs...what is going to happen..Only because I have DirectTV and I dont live near any type of track or OTB. If TVG does go under like some say... do you think directTV will pick up HRTV, since it seems like that channel is growing due to the tracks they broadcast and they are already on the DISH network... It just helps to wager online and see the race on your TV.... Just looking for some outlooks on this,,, Thanks alot!!!!

Who says you can't bet on the UK and Japan? I bet on both, TVG gives you the PPs for free, and races from those locations air at times when I am not at work and can actually follow them live. Anyway, I think TVG is doing OK...they lost the contract with Churchill, but they still have NYRA and every So Cal track except Santa Anita, which admittedly is a drag that they don't have it. (Supposedly there are talks between Magna and TVG that will let them accept wagering on Santa Anita, but I don't know when that will end) The track I really miss, though, is Oaklawn. I did great betting Oaklawn last year.

Back to Churchill. TVG has a point, Churchill Downs has watered its product down by selling so many of its properties. I suspect that TVG is just playing hardball with them. When it gets closer to the start of the seasons at Arlington, CD and Calder, they may try and reopen negociations with Churchill. I think they are probably just trying to get a better price.

I don't know who these "some say" people are, probably the types that answer questions on this retarded site, without anything to back it up but the butterflies that dance in their heads, but TVG is still THE best horse racing network in the wolrd and it won't be shutting down anytime soon, just because they lost the month and a half Churchill meet and Arlington does not mean a thing, read their statement, the CDI tracks made up 13% of thier handle, whoooo looks like it's all doom and gloom now.

I have DirecTV now, and am honestly thinking of switching to Dish! Dish offers both TVG and HRTV in a package without the extra charge DirectTV is now charging... ie having to carry a "premium" channel to not have to pay MORE still.

I have been becoming very disillusioned with TVG lately. I don't care about UK racing if I can't bet on it (Sorry to the people in the UK), ditto for racing in Ireland and Japan. It's bad enough I can't see Gulfstram or Santa Anita, but NO CDI tracks come the Spring????? I say NO WAY.

Luckily I am near Gulfstream right now working, but I have to go over to the track to catch any racing from the West Coast. But like I said I am seriously thinking of going to Dish Network!

Look over Dish's site and see what I mean, if you get a 29 channel package you get both TVG and HRTV.
