I have software installed on my computer and lost the key, I was told there is a way to view my key in my software documents how do I do this? I have looked everywhere that I can think of.

It depends on the software. Usually, the product key is stored in the Windows registry. I am not sure how comfortable you are working with the Windows registry. There are some free utilities that you can use which looks for the product keys in the registry. I highly recommend Belarc Advisor which is a free program that scans your computer for all installed software programs and their product keys. It has other features, such as displaying all Windows patches installed, hardware installed...etc.

Another free utility is KeyFinder. However, KeyFinder is limited to displaying Microsoft products (e.g. Windows XP product key, Microsoft Word). The link is http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

You can use a key generator, or call the company and they'll supply you with a new one.
