my brother and i broke into our dads cabinet in the garage and spilled a bottle of something on the garage floor. we tried to clean it up but our mom found out. it smelled really bad and i'm not sure what it was. once she found out she sent us to our room. i have a bunk bed with with my brother. when my dad got home from work i could hear him yelling and he came up, opened our door grabbed my brother, yanked down his shorts and underwear and spanked him then he did the same thing to me after he was done with him. my brother is in 3rd grade and i'm in 7th. i can understand why he gets spanked but i am way to big. what can i do to not make him not do that?

After you calm down and can think about it, decide if you think its abuse. If you do turn him in then..IF.. the State can find you a foster home chances are you will learn what real abuse is, however at your age you will be put into a group home and find out all about abuse from the older boys....A bottle of something? You may have been poisoned, perhaps he became so angry because of how badly you could have been hurt. You may be in 7th grade but your not acting as responsible as you should be for your age. When you stop acting like a child you won't need any spankings.

I think your father would be much better off with taking away ALL YOUR PRIVILEDGES. No phone, no TV, no Friends at the house,
no, leaving the house with out Mom or Dad, no special snacks. Only thing you may do is work,eat regualar meals, go to school come home and follow through with no priviledges. This type of punishment for one week will do more good then a spanking.
You are not too old for a spanking. I am a woman and my last spanking from my father I was 15 years old and if he had not spanked me the I would not have the love or respect for him I have today

I see no good reason for spanking. You were already aware you'd done something wrong, and quite a bit of time had passed. From your description, it sounds like your father was taking his frustrations out on someone smaller and weaker, with the added humiliation of baring your bottom. What is the point of that? Does a spilled bottle of whatever really merit humilating and hurting one's children?
The obvious answer to not getting spanked again is not doing something wrong again.
But the second answer might be, the next time, to say "No! I am too old to get spanked. I am willing to take another punishment" - no TV, grounding, giving up allowance - "but I already know what I did was wrong and spanking me won't change anything."
I mean, we still punish criminals by taking away their freedom and privleges but we gave up flogging them long ago. So why is it okay to hit kids?

If this is his normal method of discipline, you may want to tell your school nurse about it and see what she thinks. 7th grade is too old for that kind of treatment, regardless of what you've done. 3rd grade I can kind of understand, but either way he should not have done to either of you in front of the other.
If this was a one time thing, it may just have been that your dad didn't know any other way to get his point across than by doing that. If it was just this time, then I'd say to you to be more careful in the future. If you are old enough to not be spanked, you are old enough to know what is appropriate behavior and what is not. Breaking in to anything is definitely inappropriate for someone your age.

Spanking is legal in most (if not all) states. If he used a closed fist (like if he started punching you), or if he started beating you with a belt or any other object, you may have legal protection. Child abuse is prohibited. Contact your school counselor, a teacher, your priest, or the police.

Tell your most trusted teacher at your school, spanking or physical abuse has no place in modern day society and your father needs to find more apropriate ways discipline you and your brother. As for the guy who said finding a councilor is the reason our country is going to hell, he is wrong and should be deported.

Your not too old perhaps you shouldnt break into you fathers stuff and then you wont get a spanking just learn to behave and respect your parents. As for all you "go tell your counsler people" you all are the reason our countrys going to hell and our children have no respect for their parents or authority.

you are both too old for spankings. I have 5 kids and guess what we talk. Tell him no or tell someone outside the home to get him some help.
