my dog can sit and lay down but i really need him to learn to stand. from a sit position, he needs to stand up. Any ideas? HE WONT DO IT!!

Good way is to have a treat in your hand...place it infront of his nose and slowly move it away from his nose and upward while saying the comand. Repeat a few times...
or use the lead...gently tug on the lead up with the stand comand....repeat

offer a treat and walk slowly with it and soon they will stand and even walk for it but be consisant and make the treats meat flavored works the best!

Persistance and praise with training. Use a simple word like up and when he does it successfully, a tasty treat.

Not all dogs can or will even want to do this, especially medium , large, or dogs with an unusual stature (dachshunds, basset hounds, corgis, etc.) It's unnatural and they can even hurt themselves if they fall.
