I am an atheist because I think organized religion is just about the most harmful thing to our world there is. Because of it, there will never be world peace, all because of the fairytales people told a LONG time ago, that got put into different books that contradict eachother. It's AWFUL.

Anyway, to answer your question, the only religion I have any respect for at all is Buddhism. It is just about being enlightened about the ways of nature (not GODS that you need to fear) and how to be the best person you can be and live a productive, happy, fulfilling life. It's a great way to live and how many Buddhists do you see killing other people in the name of their religion......exactly. So take a look, it will make you happy and teach you how to think for yourself and give yourself the life you deserve- NOT suck you into a non-sensical way of life where certain things that don't make sense are sins and all kinds of stupid rules, that you have to obey or you'll BURN IN HELL FOR ETERNITY. Jeez.

Christianity- pros: The best thing is that u know your never alone, but there are many reasons this is the BEST & ONLY true religion. For examlple, when you do something for the Lord and you feel good about yourself and feel everythings good and you forget all the bad things in this world. Then you go to church that Sunday and get touched by the Holy Spirit and the feeling comes again. Also, there is all the friends you'll make. I joined my church's youth group and I believe this is the best decision I've ever made. I now have about 32 new friends just from church! Then, there is knowledge you gain from the Bible (if you like that kind of thing like me). Next, there is the fact that you know you overpower the devil and when you die you'll go to Heaven, the best place ever Created. I'm not saying the devil won't tempt you and that you will never do anything wrong again if you become a Christian, only that you can make better decisions in your life, so long as you repent your sins and ask God to forgive you by the blood of Jesus Christ. All in all, you'll feel much better about yourself.

cons: NONE!!!!!!!

You should do research into particular religions that seem interesting to you (and no asking this question doesn't make everyone's answers "research"). I studied Theology in college and although most of it was Eastern religions, i did learn some about the other major religions. If you live near a city you should try visiting the different Holy places and talk to the person in charge of that area. To start though, i'd sit down and write out things that you believe to be true i.e. is there one God or many? is there life after death?...things like that. It's my personal belief that a religion picks you rather than vice versa. It seems odd to mold your behavior around another's thoughts. With how many are out there today i am sure you will find the right one for you.

I've been a an agnostic. I've been a 'wiccan.' I've been an atheist. I've studied other religions as well. And you know what? I never had any spiritual support or felt the love of God until I accepted him into my heart and Jesus as my savior. I can't believe that the guidance I get from one quick little prayer now is what I used to spend hours casting spells & circles for, because I never got anything from that. God is the ONLY one that saved me....I would be dead without God by now. The cons? I lost some friends who liked me better when they could use and abuse me like I did myself. That's it. Not much of a con, huh? You can keep searching, and if you're anything like me, you probably will, but trust me, the answer you'll keep coming back to is Jesus. I not only got saved from my sins, but from myself. Read the Bible, talk to a minister, because you'll be surprised at what you'll find.

In my opinion, there are pros and cons to every religion. However, those pros and cons depend on what you're looking for. Personally, I was born and raised a Catholic. My pros and cons, however, weigh more on WHERE I worship. I have been to some Catholic churchs, and I have felt just horrible after mass. However, my current church is wonderful. Our Pastor relates the sermon to things that even a young child could understand. I will say, however, that I have never agreed with the catholic way of Confession. I've never felt that I needed to share my sins with anyone but god. I also disagree with their stance on marriage. Specifically in that I have to have my marriage blessed by the catholic church, otherwise it is not recognized. I chose to get married prior to my deployment to Iraq, and my husband & I were married at the court house. He has been divorced before, and there is a VERY legnthy process to get the church to recognize our marriage. Plus, I am not allowed to receive communion until I have completed my penance. And, my husband and I have to go through meetings and classes to get our marriage blessed by the church. Lastly, I don't like the way that the catholic church brings politics into church. (i.e. abortion) While I have my own particular views on abortion, I don't believe that the church should controdict itself by talking about how god loves all of us and if we accept him we will sit with him in heaven. Also, Confession is used to cleanse our sins and help us start anew. Therefore, I don't see how one could preach that if you believe in, or have an abortion you're going to hell. I thought that's why god created forgiveness. Just a few thoughts. I would strongly reccomend that you decided what YOU want out of your religion. Once you decide that, I'm sure you will find a faith that suits you.:)

I'm a Christian. I believe that God sent his son Jesus to die for our sins. There are a lot of pros. The most important one is your sins can be forgiven because of Jesus and you go to heaven not hell, a huge pro if you ask me. Also you'll have God on your side helping you. You can have more joy, get along better with people, ect. Cons are you might be persecuted. Sometimes it's hard to live the way God wants us to, but its really worth it and causes less strife than if you aren't. I suggest you look into Christianity more, read the Bible, get some books from the library or wherever, research some. I'll pray for you.

My particular faith: Syrian Orthodox (also known as Greek Orthodox or Eastern Orthodox)
Pros: Universalism (everybody is going to be saved), no such thing as a devil or satan, hell is an allegory for the consequences of sin, no prohibitions against homosexuality, the Gospel is true for everyone (not just Christians), theology is very sophisticated (based on Hellenistic philosophy and Existentialism), it is the world's oldest denomination, sees Christianity as an extension of the ancient Mystery Religions, views the Kingdom of God as an existential experience akin to Nirvana, maintains that all Gods of all faiths are really just the same transcendent Deity, maintains doctrines that are endorsed by some of most well-respected theologians in the hisotry of Christianity, has no problem with scientific theories like evolution, views Christianity as a method of psychotherapy akin to Jungian psychoanalysis, rejects self-contradictory religious theories like substitutionary atonement, allows for a scientific study of Scripture, interprets the entire Bible in an allegorical sense, subjects the written word to Church tradition, does not actively seek converts...

Cons: Progressive views are not mandatory, and so are not universal throughout the community; because the denomination is so large, it has many adherents that have adopted foreign paradigms; it does not have many converts, so the indigenous population is often uneducated in the faith; in the United States it has vast numbers of converts, most of whom were accepted without reservation, and brought heterodox opinions into the Churches; most of our greatest theologians are unavailable in English, so many of the views I cited above are virtually unknown in English-speaking countries; they have yet to produce an English version of the Scriptures, and so our English Bibles still foster distinctly heterodox concepts...

the perfect religion for you is the Seventh-Day Adventist religion. the # 1 reason is because the follow the bible 100% they dont take anything out of if. some other religions only follow the new testament, when the new testament was written after Jesus' death. so Jesus often referred to the old testamnet. But the religion doesn't add or take anything away from the bible, and they worship on the Sabbath that is mentioned in the bible

HI

The bible says, Seek and you shall find. I really appreciate that you are seeking. Your time is worth it here on earth finding out what will happen to you in eternity.

There can't be sin in Heaven and since we are all born into sin we were all in real trouble. Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Thats why Jesus died on the cross for our sins, he knew that we had a debt we couldn't pay, so he paid it for us, giving us all the opportunity to either accept christ or reject him.

We can do nothing to enter heaven, only accept the free gift of salvation.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, whoever believes in him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Holiness is what God calls us to. It's a beautiful life that brings joy, happiness and peace. Holiness is not a religion, but, the only way that God asks us to live. Every religion was started by an ordinary man with his own ideologies. Don't believe me? Just research them. There are no Cons to Holiness whatsoever. SO, WHAT IS HOLINESS? SIMPLY PUT, IT IS TOTAL OBEDIENCE TO EVERY WORD OF GOD. HIS WORDS ARE IN THE BIBLE. ALSO, IF YOU ARE SINCERE, ASK GOD, AND HE WILL TELL YOU HOW TO LIVE. HE WILL LEAD YOUR LIFE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
