IIt depends on teh age. For a puppy proably about every 30 min. Or after he/she wakes up, playing, drinking, or eating. But once they get older they get better control over there bladder. my dogs go all day (7 am- 4:15 pm) in the house with out going to the bathroom because i have school. But then when they get to be an elderly dog you should follow the same bathroom rules as when they were a puppy. Oh god i cant even think about my dogs getting old and haveing to do that... its so sad.

It is common sense that a puppy will use the bathroom a lot more than an older dog. Puppies are a lot like human babies in their needs, and as a general rule a vet will tell you the animal should not be expected to hold his or her bladder for 1 hour per year old the dog is. If you dog is 1, then they should be able to go out every hour because they are not expected to hold it longer than 1 hour. If your puppy is 6 months old, that means they should be given the opportunity to go out every half and hour or so. That is why older dogs can hold it longer, because their bladders are a lot larger. My 2 year old wheaten needs to be let out about once every two hours. I hope that makes sense to you. You just add one hour for every year they have. Typically little puppies should be taken out about every 10- 15 min. Good luck with your little one.

When they are puppies they need to be taken out even 1-2 hours since their bladders are small. When they are about a year I think every 2-4 hours will be fine. If you see them by the door, take them out. Better safe than sorry. If they are drinking water, chances are they have to go pee because their water has passed through them. As they get older they learn bladder control and don't need to go out as often but don't wait too long because they can get bladder infections just like us.

after he eats, naps, sleeps, gets excited and pees, (incase he has more), and maybe after he plays. if he is a young puppy id say evey 15 to 30 minutes older ones every 45 to 60 minutes and when you do take him out to go be sure you dont let him in the house until he go potty so he will know that is why he is out there and be sure to praise the dog when he does go, not by a treat by words hope this helps

if your dog sits by the door and crys he/she wants out or if he/she walks back and forth from the door

If its a puppy it's pretty much every hour on the hour. If it's older every couple of hours. I think six hours is the longest they could hold it period.

If the dog wants to go out more than that it could have the runs, so always think twice when you ignore them.

My dog will actually try to go out side when it's getting ready to get sick...creepy, huh? Really regret when I didn't let her out a few times...

My dog goes out every 3 hours when we are home but holds it for 6-9 hours when we are gone.

You cant really say could every dog is different. You can tell when he started cryin and walkin around in circles. Then you need to take him out.

most dogs cry when they have to go. you will learn this cry and take him out then. if you leave the house in the morings let him out before you go and when you come home right away. then anytime in between if you think he needs it and before you go to bed.
