you can not allow anyone else to decide for you if you have a problem or not. only you know deep in your core. remember there is a difference between an alcoholic and an alcohol abuser. i knew i was an alcoholic because i experienced lots of blackouts and planned my days and nights around the availability of alcohol. it also changed who i was as a person, affecting my relationships. i knew it was time to quit, but only i could make that decision. best of luck to you.

If you are asking if you have a problem, then you know you do. If you can realize it, and make strides to stop the progress of alcoholism, you will be doing yourself, your loved ones, and the general public a great service! Grasp the chance to make a difference in your life, now. My husband was an alcoholic,we aren't old(were mid 40-50),we have children, twins that we loved. They don't have a dad anymore, though. He died, cirrohis of the liver. He just turned 50. You cannot "control" alcoholism, you cannot "control" yourself when you are an alcoholic,no matter how you try,do something now to protect your family from the evils that lurk nearby.

Toni.
I am an alcoholic. I've been clean & sober for almost 10 years. If you have any doubt or if alcohol interferes an any way in your life you have a problem. It's great that you are recognizing it at this early stage. I would highly reccomend seeing a professional counselor.Get control now and save you and those you love a lifetime of pain. Good Luck. Are there alcoholics in your family? Alcoholism can be genetic/hereditary. If you drink alone and want your problems to go away after drinking then you may be an alcoholic.

Please stop now while you can still think rationally about it. My husband struggled on and off with alcoholism for 30 years, until it finally took his life, leaving me to raise 6 kids alone. It's just not worth it. I haven't had a drink in 20 years, and haven't missed a thing.

Then avoid situations and people who cause you to drink. If you cant stop yourself after 1-2 drinks... you are developing a problem.

...i felt the same way, but as an advice, never let your friend/s decide for you! just like me, if i want to drink, i can anytime and my friends are happy about it. but if sometimes i feel like not drinking, they respect me, im not a looner though.
