German Shepherds and Alsatians ARE the same breed of dog always has been always will be, the name was only changed during the 2 world wars as it wasn't a good thing to own up to owning anything German.
BTW. Belgian Shepherds are Not the same breed they are different!
EDIT. Courtesy of Wikipedia
The proper English name for the breed is German Shepherd Dog (a literal translation from the German "Deutscher Schäferhund") but they are usually informally referred to as GSDs or simply German Shepherds. In addition, the sobriquet police dog is used in many countries where the GSD is the predominant or exclusive breed used in the canine police force.
The name Alsatian is also commonly used in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and the British Commonwealth . After World War I, a few dogs were taken to Britain and the United States. In 1919, the English Kennel Club gave the breed a separate register. At that time, the British owners renamed the dog as the Alsatian Shepherd (based on the breed's origination from the Franco German border area of Alsace-Lorraine); It was feared that the German Shepherd Dog name could be an impediment owing to anti-German feelings still present after the war. Only in 1977 did the British Kennel Club authorize the breed to be known again as the German Shepherd Dog[6].

If myths like Jesus walking on the waters of the ocean and the ocean waters separating to porvide a way the Moses and his folowers some 2000 years ago could be bleieved why not the myths of Mahabharata some sixthousand years ago should not be blieved- especailly when the Bhagavad -gita that forms the sixth chapter of that great epeic contains matters like the stars and planets falling into the flames of a bigger star much like the formation of the supernova which has been proved by scientific reasearh only in the 20Th century , cannot be believed ?

Alsations and German Shephards are the same thing. The term Alsation was applied during the wars so not to have any association to the Germans

I have a German shepherd, bodie,he is the gentlest,i would like to say intelligent, but bless him,he's just not,i bought him at five weeks old,way too young to be away from mum,he has been a valued part of the family ever since,he's 10 now and a bit knackered, but he has a gentle soul and wouldn't hurt a thing,I have two young children and 28 Guinea pigs, the pigs, obviously are rather wary of him,but when i bring them in the house,my bodie washes them, much to the g.p's horror and my children are always safe.Yes soz,I'm obsessed, but would like to alleviate any bad press these dogs are getting,oh and his dad starred in cracker, with Robbie Coltrane, really.

i think you are a little misguided. german shepherd dogs are the same.as the alsation .the association with the german part of the dog was not deemed acceptable due to the war,and the name was changed to the alsation. all dogs derive from the grey wolf.
