I understand that you respect him for doing "God's work", but can you see where non Christians find him and his methods to be distasteful? Accosting people in parking lots with that sinner nonsense is just not a good idea...

So it's ok to go up to perfect strangers and start talking sin at them?

Anyone who votes on this question: I'm having a difficult time with this one, on one hand I want to pick someone who agrees with me, on the other, I want to pick an answer that reflects the other side of this. I'm torn. I understand being excited about faith, and wanting to share, but at what point does it become a violation? At what point is it accosting people, at what point does it stop? Thanks.

Kirk Cameron is not accosting anyone, they can choose to walk away. Kirk Cameron is doing exactly what the Lord has said to do, to spread the gospel.

It's better for him to tell people about their condition than to not do anything at all. I mean what harm will he do to those people? Send them to hell #2? They're already going to hell and he's warning them. Some Christians just sit there and don't warn the people around them about eternity. Picture this scenario:
We both live in the same appartment building. There is a fire and the appartment is in flames.
How would you feel if I smelled the smoke and was fleeing from the flames to come and Instead of knocking on your door to warn you about the flames, I just pass your door without warning you fully knowing that you are in grave danger.
But if I did warn you, the normal response would be gratefulness. In fact, my dad uses the same methods as Kirk Cameron and approx. 80-90% of the people he preaches to thank him!
So you see, it's unfaithful not warning those people. Jesus used the ten commandments.
In evangelism Christians should use the ten commandments to explain why they aren't good enough to get to heaven in God's eyes.
Does the doctor give you your medicine before telling you what's wrong with you? No, he gives you the diagnosis first, then the medication.
In the same way, Christians should show the unsaved their status before giving them the Ultimate Cure.

I don't know what you mean by "accosting people in parking lots".
No one has the right to accost another, whether it be christian or nonchristian. I am a christian and find nonchristian teachings to be very distasteful but I do not badger them (that is between God and that person); only if asked would I give my reasoning for my beliefs. If the nonchristian finds Kirk Cameron to be distasteful, he/she should ignore what he is doing/saying and leave him alone.
Both christians and nonchristians deserve the same respect.

It's not a matter of people having the right to walk away. If people wanted to discuss this type of subject, then they would make the choice to go to a church. It's basically invasion of privacy.
Ms. Rage is absolutely correct by stating that people get accosted with this nonsense. I've had people come up to me on the subway, and they will not take a polite no thank you. So I have to move onto the impolite F*** You, keep that s*** to yourself.

Have you ever seen how he approaches someone? He does it out of LOVE- He presents the gospel the way Jesus did---He uses God's law to show people they have sinned, and even admits to them he is a sinner as well.....he does not regard himself higher than anyone else, but shows he cares and I can see the Lord in him, I really can and I am so glad that God is using Him and Ray Comfort. You know Kirk Cameron has an AWESOME testimony! Did you know he used to be an athiest? Look at what God has done in Him! That is a complete transformation, and I hope many will come to realize that it is the power of God!
1 Corinthians 1:18
[ Christ the Wisdom and Power of God ] For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Many have testimonies like his--my dad too has an awesome testimony of when he got saved....

I don’t know if I agree with you! If I was a Christian and truly believed people went to hell for their sins like Kirk Cameron does, I would run around telling as many people as I could. Seems to me, he is one of the few that takes his beliefs seriously. I can’t stand hypocrites (so many of them), so I think I like his genuine approach. Besides Telemarketers bother me every two days, Christians only bother me once every two years.

I actually have friends who use his methods of evangelism. They go out every friday night and preach the gospel. They told me the methods are being use to convict people so they will know the truth in order to repent of their sins. However, I don't use this method very often because it will give you a whole lot of arguments and not enough repenting.

I'm a christian...but I totally don't agree with this method...and yes Jesus told his followers to spread his word...but he didn't mean in this way...read the bible and the areas where Jesus talked and socialized with people...that is how he wants his followers to behave....not accosting people and shoving it down them...

Kirk Cameron is OK with me in regards to his theology. I've not heard of him advocating Christians to buttonhole people in parking lots, though.

Yeah, it's a little much. His running partner Ray Comfort had this teenage chick in tears on one show.
