It's normal behavior.
As long as they are fixed, just leave them be.
We had 3 fixed males and a female, that never seemed to go into heat -- it's because the boys kept taking care of her. We never saw them mate, but it was happening because the first time the female was separated from them for a couple of months (on a trip), she went into real heat, and we realized she wasn't fixed.

This sounds like it may work, but if it doesn't he may become more skittish. I am in the same situation as you, but my cat will not let me pick her up until I follow her around several times. She then cowers on the floor and shakes when I hold her. She is a true feral and it has taken almost 2 years for her to even stay in the same room with me. I can walk by, but never get too close. I know in the years to come, she will calm down and trust but it will be a long road. I am estimating by her behavior, that it may take 2 or 3 more years. Even if she does not ever trust, I know that I rescued her from the streets with the help of a neighbor and she has a safe home for the rest of her life. Give the large cage a try. If it does work, how wonderful. If it doesn't, it will just set back the socialization process back somewhat. Since your cat does give kisses and purrs, you have the better chance of him becoming better socialized. Remember some cats just don't like being held for long periods of time. Best wishes. Note, instead of the cage, you may want to take this cat into a room a few times every day and just sit with it and give one on one attention so that he learns to calm down and feel more comfortable without other distractions.

Well, I say maybe you should consult family and your vet-if you don't have enough money for that-simply get to know your vet-and call him/her instead of wasting your money-but I think maybe being fixed-for the male-at an early age affected him-and maybe you should give him more love-it could be a security thing-but be sure to love each cat the same.who knows-just see and try-I'll pray for you and your cats.( PS! I love cats!I'm not sure what you meant in the last question but I think you should try my source))

There trying to show dominance, both cats and dogs do this. I've seen it with cats at other peoples houses but my older choc. lab Woodie (3 yrs.) did this and other things to my baby choc. lab/ rottweiler Charlie (hes actually Woodies son) but im staring to see that Charlies physically outgrowing Woodie and is starting to show his dominance and is actually becoming the dominant male.! But this is just part of nature and nothings wrong with your cats. At least your cats aren't fighting and attacking each other to show dominance.!

Your Tom maybe going threw the motions, but unless the Vets a bad shot, you shouldn't have anything to be concerend about. They can take away the ability of Tom kittie, but his sniffer is still in good working condition. Its like old guys like me, I like to think about it, but were not dangerous anymore. As for the TV, hes going to have to quit watching 'COPS'.

Cats (and Dogs) often use the humping motion to show dominance not necissarily to pro-create

It's just instinct. My cat loves up on everything from robe to my blanket. Don't worry it's completely normal.

The cat's sex hormones are kicking in but even if they do do it, don't worry, nothing will happen.
