I used to use it quite often but quit more than a year ago because I kept getting corrupted/bogus files. When I tried about 4 times to get one certain song I was looking for and all 4 wouldn't play for one reason or another, I gave up on it. Plus the free version used to have all kinds of spyware packaged with it...I am not sure if it still is or not. I always used to Pro version so I never had that problem but I know plenty of people who did. I would stay away from it...there are better and safer file sharing places.

You may download a virus using LimeWire but this should not be a problem if you get a free security-anti-virus software called Avast. Avast will tell you if you've downloaded a virus right away and it will isolate the file so that you can promptly delete it. Go to Avast.com to get this great anti-virus software - free for home-users.

i have used limewire for a couple of years. i use the free version, which yes is illegal. so there is a risk there legalwise and you are not always sure what you are downloading. but there is that risk even with the pro version. whenever you download anything, even if it is from your best friend. there is always a risk. the only thing you can do is have a good anti-virus and firewall on hand and scan regularly. i have a scan run everyday. good luck!

I think that it has its good and bad. Just like anything else. There's the free version, and then there;s the one where you pay for it. Personally, I use Limewire to listen to my own music. I haven't gotten any viruses or other things like that so far. Idk, it kinda depends on the type of security that's on your internet!!

any p2p program is going to be filled with viruses and spyware. it's not the program itself, its the content that you download. ares is just as susseptable to viruses and spyware as limewire and the like.
