i have to number the words on an essay and i was wondering if there's a way to actually number them on microsoft word automatically.

there is a word count feature in the "tools" dropdown menu on the toolbar

Under Tools there's a word count option. Also, I believe Document Properties shows words, and other statistics.

In Word 2007, there's a live word count in the bottom bar. It's a great tool for writers who are required to fall within a certain work count.

i don't know aobut numbering each one individually, but you can get a word count on the document to tell you how many words are in the document.

You can get to Wordcount by hitting 'tools' on the menu bar.

yes, you go to the tools menu then select word count
