I love Yorkies because of their smallness. I think that is a bad thing too. Do I but regualar sized gates for it or smaller sizes? Also, I do not have a big backyard or a fence. Is this ok for my dog?
I live In southern NJ and there is basically nada here. Does anyone have a idea on where to get one?

Contact your local animal shelter/rescue group. There are many yorkies available for adoption.

Not sure what all you are asking, because of your english. Have you done your research on yorkies? If you have not, you need to do your research on any animal before you get it. It will save you and the animal a lot of trouble in the future.

I love yorkies, too. But, with 2 children I was concerned about their fragility. I ended up buying a puppy that is a mix - shi tzu and yorkie. He's a little sturdier than a pure breed yorkie - he's a year & 1/2 old and weighs almost 15 pounds. I have a small dog but don't worry that he'll break!

Good luck!

Yorkies are wonderful, smart little dogs. They are small, so make sure your household is a safe environment for a small animal. Yorkies are also considered a "high maintenance" dog. They need brushed and combed often due to their long hair. They also need the hair trimmed periodically as their hair continually grows much like human hair. They are usually very playfull and active.

I had a friend who had two yorkies and my father does too. Pro... great pets, loyal and great with kids. Cons..... they are prone to have bladder issues(having uncontrollable urination issues) My friend had to have the University of Minnesota fix her two yorkies bladder issues. But other than that they are great loving dogs and I'm not a fan of little rat dogs.

Yorkies also have a tendency to be high strung and like a lot of attention. They're not a good dog to have if you are out most of the day.

1st off is you have young children, Yorkies are too fragile to be in the same household.
Yorkies also tend to have a lot of oil on their coat, thus have a kind of sweet odor.

Cons: They look like a mop, they bark loud, they are too little.*
Pros: They have soft fur.

*No offense to the cons:D
