Even if you don't believe in a God or the Bible or any type of religion, think on this. Our basic good morals ARE described in the Bible. The society we live in knew this and incorporated them into the laws that we have.
So, if you are a moral person you are still following God whether you know it or not. You may think you are just following what you were taught by your parents or society but the basic morals came from God over 2000 years ago.
" And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. " 2 Peter 1:5-7
There are other verses in the Bible that list our good morals, the verse above is just one example.

the standard is the issue.
What is the supreme value you are supporting with your moral system? God? Which God? Society? Which Society? Whim? Who's whim?
The only moral system is that which places the sole individual as the highest value. That way none can be sacrificed for it.

Best way to develop a good, universal morality is for everyone to accept the fact that god does not exist.
In direct answer to your question though, do you think Isaac thought it was moral of God to make his father kill him?

I don't believe 'god' commands people; I think people interpret a mixture of what they've been told about 'god' and what they've heard about what is right and wrong, with their own desires....and there you get the average human's idea of morality.
Morality is more a method of getting along with society and yourself, than holding to some universal ideal.

I don't believe a deity like the christian version of god 'commands' my morals. My morals come from secular law & common sense... no deities included.

Obviously some actions are governed by circumstances, for example sex in marriage vs. sex outside of marriage. However, the same rules of morality regarding sex in marriuage vs, sex outside of marriage apply to everyone. Morality is not individualized.

Cannibals eat people in a fully moral fashion. They observe all the taboos surrounding the process, like no tomatoes in the pot and no beans if it is chili.
The bible is full of righteous rape and murder ordered by God.
Morality is just a set of rules to behavior that are supposed to help us not kill each other off. Mostly however they seem concerned with property rights, and promote trade and tourism.
If you are living in a trading nation it is immoral to eat visiting strangers, or even to rob or abuse them. (the real story why Sodom and Gomorrah were evil and destroyed centers on this inhospitable thinking, not on homosexuality.)

The morally weak need fear of God. Those who are stronger can use their own judgment, since they tend to hold themselves to a higher standard. We hold people to different standards. Who would you demand more from -- the person who does your hair or your doctor?
