Not too many people are interested in things that do not directly relate to themselves or their lives. This makes them unaware of the way other cultures live. Therefore, when the media portrays negative images of radical Muslims concerning 9/11, ignorant people get nervous. I am Christian, am I have had Muslim friends before and after 9/11 because I know that not all Muslims feel the same. What gets on my nerves is that people do not know the difference between people from Egypt, India, Pakistan, etc. they cluster them all together, and even accuse them of radical Muslim beliefs. I don't think people realize that there are a lot of Russian Muslims, too and I bet they don't feel the stigma because they don't live in the Middle East.

There are four reasons, and those four are the four groups that interpret the Koran, the Islamic religion is split into four religious groups according to Islamic clerics, all Muslims, and all four believe in the Koran, but with four different interpretations, and this is why Islam is so misunderstood.

As a muslim myself, I know why Islam is misunderstood:

Terrorists that believe if you kill non-believers, you will go to heaven. THIS IS SO TOTALLY WRONG. In Judgement Day, those terrorists will be confronted by Allah and they will have to explain their wrong actions. Since 9/11, people have judged us when they just meet us and they claim that we are "extremists".

How are they misunderstood? I think they are understood perfectly that's why they have started 23 of 27 wars going on in the world as we speak.
