Is there any chemical (draino/acid/etc) that I should use to dissolve cat litter clogging a sink?

Nope, you just use the usual stuff. It just takes a little extra work. Hopefully, the clog is close to the top of the drain, because then you can get it yourself, and won't have to call a plumber.

I suggest you start with an application of draino or some chemical. Apply it like normal. Wait a bit afterwards.

Next, use a pipe snake (my brother made me one by unfolding a wire hanger, and then bending it back so it would go down the sink drain. You may have to make a couple of gentle bends. Fiddle with this to break up the clog as much as possible. This will take a bit of wiggling about, because litter is basically clay, so it clumps into a big sticky solid mass when it's wet.

This should make it so SOME water can get through. Try running hot water through at this point. This will help dissolve the mass of litter more.

Try another application of the draino or other such chemical.

Gradually, it should work it's way out.

In the future, you will want to buy a kitty litter formulated for flushing. . .they're out there, and much more environmentally friendly than clay litter. Btw, it's not that uncommon to accidentally end up with litter in the drain. Accidents happen. Don't beat yourself up too much.

First off, is it clumping? If it is, you mite as well pull the water trap apart and clean it out in the garbage. You don't want clumping litter to go into the other pipes. It will cause more grief. Taking the trap apart is not a big deal, and I'm sure if you dont want to do it, some of your friends will. Get it before it becomes a major problem. I didn't, and had a mess down the road. If its not. it should wash itself out. Liquid plumer and those work good on grease, but you mite give it a try before getting out the rodding snake.

First, try to remove as much as possible before running the hottest water to flush out the remaining litter. If there is still litter clogging the drain, try Drano or similar. It should work.

i could say no. Cat muddle is made out of clay. that's dirt for those of you in Colorado. Acids won't do lots to interrupt this down further than that's. i could advise taking the capture aside, and cleansing it from there. Be very careful in case you have already pared drain opener down the drain. The capture would be crammed with it. reliable good fortune.

There is a special type of cat litter that is supposed to be flushed away. Buy only that type and you will be OK.
