I did once get a death threat from an atheist, but it was about the whole Communism thing rather than the whole religion thing. Generally atheist are nicer people than theists.
EDIT: I'm an idiot. Rhetorical question.

Not personally, but yes it certainly has happened, and with a vengeance. Every single one of the world's self declared, atheist regimes to date, has had secret police who arrested Christians and persecuted them mercilessly because of their beliefs. Countless numbers were slaughtered, sent to concentration, 're-education' and labour camps. Many were considered mentally ill and forcibly encarcerated in lunatic asylums. The atheists who controlled the governments of eastern europe, China, the Soviet Union, Cuba and south east asia etc. were undoubtedly the most intolerant and brutal rulers the world has ever known.

My own immediate family (in the genetic sense) would wish me dead in some cases, if it weren't for their feeling familial associated fear of death, certainly I know of many non-immediate family members who would have certainly killed me, if not for fear of law, for my dislike of hurtful and selfish social norms... This merely for pointing out its not good to waste time on self-indulgent pleasures compared to the suffering in the world, and how useless selfish accumulation of wealth is in the final perspective.
Indeed, the love of self, and money is the great evil, the fact that it propagates and destroys religions high ideal in many selfish people is in no way reason to blame the religion for it. Only thing religion did was add fever to their delusions because they believe -they're- the ones going to heaven/paradise, so they do not fear either government, or God; both of which religion admonishes people to observe. So they have proven themselves irreligious, or false and recalcitrant... While the religious wish no harm to anyone, because they simply wish all to have perfect, eternal joy, in truth.
Therefore, it is selfishness which causes one to wish the death of others, and there are selfish atheists, and claimed theists alike. Those who are selfless, only want happiness for all, and it being good universally, wish it not to end for any, whether or not they believe in God(s).
I happen to find it irrefutable there is a God which is the Prime Principle of Science [Knowledge] which has all the prerequisites to engender all things, for all else is to be without a possible Cause, as nothingness has no reality from which to create something.
Now it is evident that it is whether The Principle is personal or impersonal, that most people find the excuse for hating others for in religious terms. In fact, all Atheist of sense, has some vague notion of the certainty of First Principle in the scientific field, which is the actual truth which has quantum material appearances, so I would say they in fact have an impersonal God which is simply the Truth which engenders all possibilities, which, of course, they do not know personally...
While the possibility of personal relations between humans being possible, is evidence enough, that the source of that truth also has that attribute, how ever limited or Grand it may be, so I know God personally, by way of knowing my humanity, and perceiving science, if not practiced with bias, as a door way to having a knowable relation to it, particularly from it as a source of power to engender that knowing, as in revelation, personal, or universal...
